Citizens' Advisory Committee Minutes

Roll Call: The Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting began at 5:30 PM with call call.
Members present: Chet Brojek, Diane Juve, Trevor Murphy, John Shoop, and Joe Wright
Members absent: Jason Biance, Lauren Bush, Tiffany Green Curt Matthews, Bill Jarrett, and Maritza Telesky
District staff present: Brenda Longshore, Donna Howerton, Mike Averyt, Frank Brown, Harry Howes, and Cindy Wester (recorder)
Approval of Minutes: Chet Brojek motioned, and Diane Juve seconded to approve the December 1, 2022, minutes as presented. The minutes were approved by unanimous vote.
Revenue & Expenditures Report: Assistant Superintendent of business Operations, Mike Averyt, presented the revenue and expenditures report. The total revenue collected to date was $41, 640,868.09, with total expenditures reported at $35,851,123.54. A pie chart indicating the areas funds were spent was shared. A copy of the revenue, expenditure, and pie chart reports are attached.
Capital Projects: Mike Averyt shared how half-cent sales tax dollars were spent on projects in 2022-23, projected dollars to be spent in 2023-24, and available cash for projects during the 2023-24 school year. Larger projects include a new wing for Woodlawn Elementary, seven new buses, computers for teachers and students, security cameras, radios, irrigation repairs, and an allocation to the Athletic Task Force for athletics-related upgrades district-wide.
Mike Averyt discussed the Capital Project Plan for 2023-24, which included reports for all schools, the Academy at Youth Care Lane, the E.O. Douglas Administrative Complex with ancillary facilities, and transportation. Included with the Capital Project Plan was a break-down of amounts spent district-wide. Mr. Averyt explained that some projects were paid with other funding sources than half-cent sales tax and are shown on the lists. A copy of the Capital Project Plan is attached.
Other Business: Facility walk-through dates were amended and occurred on January 17th and 19th. Frank Brown asked for input from this committee on walk-through findings.
General discussion ensued. Frank Brown added that roofing material had been delivered today. Donna Howerton inquired whether ESSER dollars were spent on air conditioning and roofing. Mr. Brown answered that ESSER funds were used on air conditioning.
Mike Averyt stated that a board workshop would be held on February 14th to discuss the general projects lists. Mr. Averyt stated that a timeline on expected start and completion dates on projects would be shared at the workshop. Dr. Longshore encouraged CAC members to attend.
Next Meeting & Adjournment: The next meeting is scheduled for March 23, 2023. A notice of meeting will be emailed by the Superintendent's secretary at least seven days in advance of the next meeting
