Remembering September 11, 2001 - Patriot Day
This morning, the LPHS JROTC Dragon Battalion led our school community in a solemn 9/11 Milestone Remembrance Ceremony, beginning at 8:46 AM - the moment the first plane struck the North Tower 25 years ago. Students and staff gathered around the flagpole to pause, reflect, and honor the lives lost, the heroes who responded, and the countless individuals forever impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. The ceremony included the traditional military lowering of the flag to half-staff, a chronological reading of the morning’s events accompanied by the tolling of a ceremonial brass bell, and a keynote address from Fire Chief J. Kelly Duppenthaler.
We are proud of our JROTC Dragon Battalion for providing our students with this meaningful opportunity to remember an important moment in our nation’s history. Thank you to our students and staff who wore red, white, and blue and joined us in observing Patriot Day with respect and remembrance. 🇺🇸

Every Tuesday and Thursday, students volunteer at NU-Hope, where they get a firsthand look at what it means to have a job and be responsible in the workplace. Students help hang clothing, organize shelves, complete miscellaneous tasks, and practice following workplace expectations.
These experiences help our Dragons build important skills like responsibility, teamwork, organization, independence, and a strong work ethic—all while giving back to the community! 💪
